Web Design Ten steps to create a simple web page 1. Open any word processing
program.
2. Set the page margins to zero. 3. Set the page width to 8.5 inches and page length to 11 inches. 4. Type your information and drag your pictures into the document. Be creative - its a web page! 5. When you are finished creating the word document, open any standard drawing program. In Windows, the program is called "Paint." 6. Use your mouse to select the entire contents of the word document. Right click on the mouse and select copy. 7. Move your cursor to the blank paint page you have just opened. Right click on the mouse and select paste. 8. The contents of your word document should now be in the paint page. 9. Save the file as [group name]index" with the .jpg extension. 10. You have just created a web page! Upload the file using FTP. |

A Web Design Program There
are many web design programs available. Kompozer is a free web
design program that will allow you to design simple to very complicated
web pages. It works well on Windows, Mac and Linux.

| FTP (File Transfer Protocol - Transferring web files to the web server)
In order to transfer web files you have created to the web server, your
computer must be set up to enable FTP. Some operating systems can be
set up for FTP directly - through the network or computer menu on
some operating systems. Another easy way to FTP is to use an FTP client
(a program that FTP's files.) Two FTP programs are free and highly
recommended: Filezilla - A stand alone free FTP program that works on
Windows, Mac & Linux operating systems. FireFTP is a plugin FTP
client for the Mozilla internet browser.
